Getting to Pohang
There are a number of different ways to get to Pohang, once you are in Korea.
Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from abroad to Pohang itself.
In the following, we list the most common ways to enter Korea, and how to get to Pohang from there. If you are planning to come to Korea in any other way, please contact

From Seoul Incheon Int. Airport
- Go to Gimpo Airport and take a domestic flight from there
Seoul interactive Metro Map:- Limousine bus to Gimpo Airport (approx. 45 min.)
departs every 10 min. from berth 3B and 4B, tickets - 6,500 KRW - can be bought at the platform - Shuttle train AREX to Gimpo Airport (34 min, 10 min to/from the station)
departs every 12 min, tickets 3,400 KRW can be bought at ticket machines - they only accept coins and 1,000 KRW bills
- Limousine bus to Gimpo Airport (approx. 45 min.)
- Direct limousine bus to Pohang (via Gyeongju)(5:30 - 6 hours departs from berth 9C or 10C; 07:00 08:50 13:40 17:10 19:30 21:30; 40,300 KRW)
- Go to Seoul Station and take a train from
there
- Limousine bus (approx. 60 min)
- AREX to Gimpo, change to Line 5 to Singil, change to Line 1 to Seoul Station (Exit 1) (approx. 100 min), tickets - 4,600 KRW - can be bought at ticket machines - they only accept coins and 1,000 KRW bills
From Seoul Gimpo Int. Airport
Currently, there are these five direct flights to Pohang: (approx. 50 min)
Korean Air: 10:00 13:00 16:00
Asiana airlines: 7:30 14:50
From Seoul Train Station
Take a KTX train to Dongdaegu (approx. 1:45 hours, 38,400 KRW). In Dongdaegu, you can either
- take a commuter train to Pohang (approx. 1:30 hours, 4,400 KRW)
- take a limousine bus from the train station to Pohang (EXIT gate No. 7, every hour from 9:30 to 20:30, 8,100 KRW)
- take a taxi to Dong-bu bus terminal (2,500 KRW) and take a limousine bus from there (direct or via Gyeongju)(approx. 75 min, every 10 min., 8,100 KRW)
From Busan Gimhae Int. Airport
Take a direct limousine bus to Pohang (via Gyeongju)(1:40 hours, every hour from
7:35 to 20:35, last bus at 21:45, tickets - 11,000 KRW - can be bought from the
driver). Simply walk right when you exit the terminal building.
From Daegu Int. Airport
Take a taxi to Dong-bu bus terminal (5,000 KRW) and take a limousine bus from there (direct or via Gyeongju)(approx. 75 min, every 10 min., 8,100 KRW)
From Jeju Int. Airport
There are direct flights from Jeju to Pohang (Asiana,
on Tue/Fri/Sun at 15:20). You can also fly from Jeju to Busan Gimhae
airport and take a bus from there.
Korean Air: Currently 8 flights per day to Busan Gimhae.
Asiana airlines: Currently 7 flights per day to Busan Gimhae.
Getting around in Pohang
By taxi
The most convenient way to get around in Pohang is by taxi:
- to go to the university, tell the driver POHANG GONG DAE
- to go to POSCO Int. Center, tell the driver GONG DAE GUK CHE GWAN

From the airport, it will take about 25 minutes, and cost around 12,000 KRW. If you arrive by bus, it will take about 10 minutes from the bus terminal, and cost around 5,000 KRW.
By bus
You can also take buses to get around in Pohang. Each ride costs 1,000 KRW (please provide exact fare.) There are two bus stops near POSTECH: Google Map of POSTECH
- bus 200 from the airport to the bus terminal
- bus 105 from the bus terminal to POSTECH
- bus 108 from downtown (Jukdo market) to POSTECH
